In Their Own Words

WT

Wiriya Thammavong

Bangkok

"We engaged rattanay Legal to handle notification of beneficiaries after my father's passing. The letters were well-drafted and the timing was coordinated sensitively. What helped most was that every stage was explained in writing before it happened — we never felt uncertain about what was coming next."

Beneficiary Notification — April 2025

Siriporn Nakornrat

"The mediation process was handled with patience. My two siblings and I had real differences of view about how our mother's estate should be administered, and reaching a shared understanding felt unlikely at the start. The written agenda before each session helped keep things focused. I would have liked one more follow-up note at the end, but overall the process worked."

Inheritance Mediation — March 2025

Expat — Scotland / Bangkok

"As a foreign national dealing with a succession matter involving Thai assets, I had no idea where to start. The initial consultation was unhurried and covered the relevant legal framework clearly. I was briefed in writing before every court hearing, which was essential given I was travelling for parts of the matter. Professional and thorough."

"Khun Kanya handled our notification process after a complicated family situation. She took the time to understand the relationships between the beneficiaries before drafting a single letter. That level of care made a real difference to how the communications were received by the family."

Thanakrit Suwan

Phuket

"The mediation between my brother and me took two sessions over about six weeks. It was not an easy process — there were genuine differences to work through — but the written agenda and the neutral facilitation kept things from becoming personal. We arrived at a written understanding we could both live with, which is what we hoped for."

Inheritance Mediation — March 2025

Rossarin Khamwong

Nonthaburi

"Our court matter was straightforward in terms of the facts but unfamiliar territory for us procedurally. Khun Somsak prepared clear written briefings before each hearing and explained the outcome of each stage afterwards. The fees were exactly as quoted. I would not hesitate to recommend this firm."

Court Representation — December 2024–April 2025

CASE STUDIES

How We Have Assisted in Practice

The following accounts describe the kind of matter we handle, drawn from real experiences. Names and identifying details have been changed.

CASE STUDY — BENEFICIARY NOTIFICATION

Coordinating Notifications Across a Dispersed Family

The Situation

An executor in Bangkok needed to notify eight beneficiaries — four in Thailand, two in the UK, and two in Australia — about the terms of a will following the death of a Thai national. The family had not all been in contact for some years, and the executor was concerned about managing the communications sensitively.

What We Did

We prepared a formal notification letter and a plain-language summary for each beneficiary, reviewed by the executor before despatch. The timing was coordinated so all notifications were received within a two-day window. We managed the incoming responses over the following three weeks and produced a written summary of all responses received.

The Outcome

All eight beneficiaries acknowledged receipt. There were two follow-up queries, both answered in writing within one working day. The executor completed the notification stage of the administration without any disputed communications. The total matter was completed within six weeks of our engagement.

"Having someone manage this systematically took a significant burden from us at an already difficult time."

CASE STUDY — MEDIATION

Resolving a Disagreement About a Family Property

The Situation

Three adult children disagreed about the future of a Bangkok property left under their mother's will. One wished to sell immediately, one wanted to retain it as a family asset, and one was uncertain. The disagreement had become personal and the siblings had not spoken directly for several weeks before approaching us.

What We Did

We met each sibling separately before preparing an agenda focused on the practical decision rather than the underlying grievances. Two mediation sessions were held over three weeks. After the first session, a written summary of the positions was circulated. After the second, a preliminary understanding was drafted covering the property and one related financial question.

The Outcome

The three siblings reached a written understanding within five weeks of the first session. The property question was resolved on terms each could accept. Formal proceedings were not required. The option of future proceedings was preserved in the written understanding if a different question arose later.

"The structured agenda made it possible to discuss the practical question without everything becoming personal."

CASE STUDY — COURT REPRESENTATION

Representing a Beneficiary in a Contested Probate Application

The Situation

A client had been excluded from a will she believed did not reflect her late father's actual wishes. A written document existed that appeared to contradict the will in certain respects. The matter had already moved to the Thai courts before she engaged us, and she needed representation for the remaining hearings.

What We Did

We reviewed the case file and prepared a written summary of the legal position before advising on the most considered approach. We drafted a responsive pleading, coordinated with a document expert as an ancillary witness, and represented the client at four hearings over a period of approximately four months. Written briefings were sent before each hearing.

The Outcome

The court issued a judgment in the client's favour on the primary question raised in the pleading. A written explanation of the judgment and its practical implications was provided to the client within two days of the decision. The matter closed with a written summary of the proceedings and the steps that followed from the judgment.

"I was kept fully informed throughout. Nothing came as a surprise — which made a difficult process easier to manage."
